Original Linear Issue #5


PAGE ONE (four panels)

Panel 1. KYLE is standing on the roof of Dilbane High School.  His armor is shining in the sun.  He is looking up into the sky.

1 KYLE (narration box)                     OKAY.  I HAVE TO SAY HERE FOR A WHILE.  IT TOOK ME A HOUR TO GET HERE FROM ANTARCTICA.  THAT’S FASTER THAN I THOUGHT.  IF I CAN JUST GIVE FOUR ENOUGH TIME. 

Panel 2. KYLE is crossing his arms and looking down.  The frame is a mid-body close up view.  KYLE is supposed to look contemplative.

1 KYLE (narration box)                     I CAN’T SENSE MY SCANNERS BEING BLOCKED, SO WILLIAM ISN’T WATCHING ME WITH A FLOATING CAMERA OR WHATEVER.

Panel  3. KYLE is masking his presence.  He is partially visible fading out of existence, but not all of his body is transparent.  Like a wave of invisibility is washing over him from left to right.

1 KYLE (narration box)                     IF I CAN KNOCK NICK AND COMPANY OUT I CAN RECORD AN IMAGE OF THEM DEAD-ISH I MIGHT BE ABLE TO BUY MORE TIME.  WILLIAM WOULD HAVE TO CONFIRM THEIR DEATH WITH A SYNTH OR SOMETHING.

Panel  4. The door to the front of the school is opening ‘by itself’. 

1 KYLE (narration box)                     I’LL CALL THEM TO THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE AND KNOCK THEM OUT IN THE HALL.  I DON’T REALLY CARE WHAT THE TEACHERS AND WHATNOT THINK ABOUT THEM BEING KNOCKED OUT.  NOT MY PROBLEM REALLY.

 

 

 

 

 

 

PAGE TWO (three panels)

Panel  1. WILLIAM is sitting in front of his console.  He looks at ease, but concerned.  The view is showing the light from the screen reflecting onto his face.

1 WILLIAM (narration box)              PROTOTYPE FIVE HAS BEEN MY MOST SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT YET.  HE COMPLETED THE TESTS WITH EASE AND WON AGAINST PROTOTYPE FOUR.  THOUGH HIS SOFTNESS IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN.  I HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THAT.

Panel  2. The view is extremely close up.  WILLIAM’S face takes up half the panel with FOUR standing in the doorway.  FOUR is in full armor.  His armor is repaired from the battle a year and a half earlier.

1 FOUR:                                             KINTAXIN.

2 WILLIAM:                                      I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU IF YOU LEFT PROTOTYPE FIVE’S ROOM I’D…  WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?

Panel  3. Close up on FOUR.  His helmet is taking up the left side of the panel, half is out of panel.

1 FOUR:                                             KINTAXIN.  THAT IS YOUR REAL NAME.  IS IT NOT?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PAGE THREE (five panels)

Panel  1.  KINTAXIN is glaring angrily at FOUR in a close up.

1 KINTAXIN:                                    GOODBYE, CYBERNETIC PROTOTYPE ZERO ZERO FOUR.  DESTRUCT CP004.

Panel  2. The view is a mid-body shot of FOUR.  He is crossing his arms in the doorway.  His posturing is of being confident and obviously not affected by the vocal command.

2 FOUR:                                             I KNOW EVERYTHING IN YOUR MAIN INFORMATION CATCH.  I USED THAT INFORMATION TO DEACTIVATE MY EXPLOSIVE.  I ALSO DEACTIVATED PROTOTYPE FIVE’S AS WELL. 

Panel  3. KINTAXIN looks enraged. He is gnashing his teeth.  He is pressing a button on his console violently.

1 KINTAXIN:                                                IS THAT SO?!

Panel  4. FOUR looks concerned.  His hands are balled up and his elbows are bent.  KINTAXIN is sitting smug in his chair.

1 FOUR:                                             WHAT DID YOU JUST DO?

2 KINTAXIN:                                    I DID TWO THINGS: I ACTIVATED THE RAGE PROGRAM IN FIVE’S BRAIN NODES.  SECONDLY, I SENT A SYNTHETIC PROTOTYPE TO KILL HIM IN CASE THINGS DON’T GO AS PLANNED.

Panel  5.  FOUR is running out of the doorway with KINTAXIN sitting in the chair leaning back.

1 FOUR:                                             RAGE PROGRAM?  OH NO!  I JUST ACCESSED THAT INFORMATION.  HE’LL… DO YOU KNOW WHAT HE COULD DO?  IF HE CAN’T FIGHT IT?

2 KINTAXIN:                                    HE’LL KILL EVERYTHING HE ENCOUNTERS UNTIL HE IS DEAD OR THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO KILL.

 

 

 

PAGE FIVE (five panels)

Panel  1. FOUR is flying through the air away from the fortress.

1 FOUR (narration box)                     I AM APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES BEHIND THE SYNTHETIC PROTOTYPE. HE MUST HAVE HAD IT ON STANDBY OUTSIDE THE FORTRESS.  I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE KINTAXIN’S TRUE FORM, BUT I DON’T NEARLY HAVE ENOUGH TIME AS IT IS.  I KNOW WHAT HE IS REGARDLESS.

Panel  2. A box at top of panel says Five Minutes Earlier.  KYLE is walking through the hallway in his masked mode.  He is ‘see through’ to translate this to the reader. 

1 KYLE (narration box)                     I CALLED THE FIVE OF THEM TO THE PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE.  GOOD THING THAT EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER NETWORK, INTERNET, AND SUSCEPTIBLE TO MY WIRELESS MANIPULATION. 

Panel 3.  KYLE is still in masked mode.  He is grabbing his helmet’s forehead as if he isn’t feeling well.

1 KYLE (narration box)                     THE HELL?  I FEEL… WEIRD. 

2 RAGE:                                             KILL.

Panel 4. KYLE is still in masked mode.  He is looking around in a confused manner.

1 KYLE (narration box)                     WHAT?  MY SENSORS AREN’T PICKING ANYONE UP THAT IS WITHIN EARSHOT. 

2 KYLE                                              HELLO?                    

3 RAGE:                                             KILL THEM ALL!!  DO IT!  DO IT NOW!

Panel 5. KYLE is no longer in masked mode.  He is clawing at his helmet. 

1 KYLE:                                             I CAN’T BREATHE.  WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?  I…

2 RAGE:                                             KILL EVERYTHING!  THEY DESERVE IT.

3 KYLE:                                             KILL…. ?

 

 

PAGE SIX (seven panels)

Panel 1. NICK, JOSH, and the other three are walking through the hallway casually.

1 NICK:                                              WHAT THE HELL IS THIS ABOUT ANYWAY?  I THOUGHT THIS FIGHT BUSINESS WITH THAT NUTSACK AL WAS DONE. 

Panel 2. The group rounds a corner with KYLE’S head in close up view.  KYLE is facing them with no helmet on.  The group’s faces are shocked and unsure what to do.

2 KYLE:                                             KILL…

Panel 3.  Close up on KYLE’S face.  His eyes are glowing red.  His kinetic stabilizers that are normally blue are red as well.

1 KYLE:                                             I’LL KILL YOU ALL!

Panel 4. KYLE has his wrist blade out.  He is punching FREDDY in the face with the blade.  The blade is sticking out the back of his head as his face collapses from the impact of his fist at the base of the blade..  Blood is spraying out the back onto the wall behind him.

1 KYLE:                                             YOU DESERVE IT!

Panel 5.  KYLE hits JOSH in the chest with a kinetic blast.  JOSH is off his feet flying through the air.  JOSH’S chest is inverted a bit and blood is streaming out of his mouth.  FREDDY hasn’t yet fallen all the way down.  His face is crushed and he has a hole where his nose should be.  Blood is pouring out of his face.  This is to convey how quickly KYLE is attacking them.  The other three have started fleeing.

1 KYLE:                                             I SUFFERED SO F*CKING MUCH!  I LOST EVERYTHING!

Panel 6.  JOSH is hitting the wall behind him, putting a dent in and cracking the wall.  PETER has tripped and is crawling away.  NO DIALOGUE

Panel 7.   KYLE is landing PETER’S head.  KYLE weighing over 500lbs. with his armor, crushes the boy’s head.  His skull fractures and there isn’t much left.  KYLE is standing on the ground.  NO DIALOGUE.

 

 

 

PAGE SEVEN (six panels)

Panel 1. KYLE is firing an explosive blast at ASHTON.  KYLE is standing where the PETER’S head should be.  The body is emptying out on the floor.  JOSH is in the background puking blood.  The faceless boy is also bleeding out.  The explosive blast has already hit the boy.  His upper body is in a hundred pieces.  NICK is thrown up against the wall by the blast.  For past and future reference, this is what makes the explosion that alerts AL and IRENE to what was happening outside.  The wall next to the ASHTON is inverted away from him like the side of a sphere is pushing the wall inward.

1 KYLE:                                             DISENTIGRATE AND DIE!

Panel 2. KYLE is walking toward NICK as he scrambles to get up.  The view is from behind KYLE.  NICK is terrified.  NICK has blood splattered on his face.  KYLE has blood splattered on him as well.  KYLE is not hesitating, he wants this so badly, or so he believes at this point.

2 NICK:                                              NO… PLEASE.  WAIT.

Panel 3. NICK is getting up, still terrified.  Tears are streaming down NICK’S cheeks..  Close up on NICK’S upper body.

1 NICK:                                                          K… KYLE?

Panel 4.KYLE is slicing with his wrist blade in a downward curve.  NICK’S right shoulder down to his crouch and through his left leg is the path the blade takes.  NO DIALOGUE.

Panel 5.  NICK sits in three pieces on the floor as KYLE runs towards JOSH, who is still alive.  NO DIALOGUE.

Panel 6.  KYLE is standing above JOSH with his blade poised to kill him.  JOSH just looks up bleeding out his nose and mouth.  NO DIALOGUE.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PAGE EIGHT (four panels)

Panel 1. KYLE is in the same position.  The view is from the side.  KYLE is no longer glowing red.  KYLE’S eyes are normal.  KYLE is crying.

1 KYLE(narration box)                                  NO… I… WHAT HAVE I DONE?

2 RAGE:                                                         HE’S STILL BREATHING.  KILL HIM!

3 KYLE:                                                         GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

Panel 2. KYLE is running in the opposite direction.  The view is in front of KYLE.  He is frantic and crying.  NO DIALOGUE.

Panel 3. The view is from behind KYLE.  The door AL came out of in the previous issue is in view.  KYLE is picking up his helmet that’s in the middle of the hallway. 

1 KYLE (nb)                                                   I HAVE TO GET OUT OF HERE.  I HAVE… I HAVE TO REGAIN CONTROL.

Panel 4.  Same view as before, but KYLE is gone.  AL is opening the door to the hallway.

Panel 1.KYLE is flying through the air away from the school.  He is holding onto his helmet still.  He looks to be in a lot of pain.

1 KYLE(narration box)                                  MY HEAD IS GOING TO EXPLODE.  I CAN’T CONTROL THIS ANGER… THIS RAGE.

2 RAGE:                                                         WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

1 KYLE (narration box)                                 SHUT UP.

Panel 2.  KYLE is landing in an alley.  NO DIALOGUE.

Panel 3. KYLE is down on one knee.  He looks exhausted.  His eyes are tearing up again.

1 KYLE:                                                         I… CAN’T DEAL WITH THIS.  I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO.  WHAT’S HAPPENING TO ME?

Panel  4.  KYLE is lying on his back with his helmet lying next to him.  He is still in the alley

1 KYLE:                                                         IT’S BEEN A FORTY MINUTES SINCE I LANDED IN THIS ALLEY. NO ONE IS AROUND.  I CAN REST AND GET MY HEAD STRAIGHT.  THAT VOICE IS GONE.  I BET IF NO ONE IS AROUND THEN IT WON’T HAVE ANYONE TO TARGET.

2 FOUR (communication box)                       PROTOTYPE FIVE?  CAN YOU HEAR ME?

3 KYLE (communication box)                       FOUR?

Panel 5.  FOUR is flying over the ocean.  The view is from in front of FOUR.

1 FOUR (cb)                                                   FIVE?  ARE YOU OKAY?

2 KYLE(cb)                                                    SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED TO ME.  I KILLED FOUR OF MY OLD BULLIES.  I CAN’T CONTROL MYSELF UNLESS I’M ALONE.  DON’T COME NEAR ME.

3 FOUR(cb)                                                    WILLIAM ACTIVATED A RAGE PROGRAM THAT RESIDES IN YOUR BRAIN NODES.  I’M SURPRISED YOU STOPPED IT AT ALL.

1 KYLE(cb)                                                    IT WON’T LAST LONG.  MY BRAIN IS ON FIRE.  I WANT TO KILL EVERYTHING… EVEN YOU.

2 FOUR(cb)                                                    THERE ARE TWO THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW: FIRST THERE IS A SYNTHETIC PROTOTYPE TWO MINUTES IN FRONT OF ME SENT TO ASSIST YOU IN THE DESTRUCTION OF DILBANE OR TO KILL YOU IF YOU ARE RESISTING THE PROGRAM.

3 KYLE(cb)                                                    AND SECONDLY?

4 FOUR(cb)                                                    THE ONLY WAY TO REMOVE THE RAGE PROGRAM IS TO INCREASE YOUR ENERGY SOURCE’S OUTPUT AND BURN OUT YOUR BRAIN NODE SYSTEM.  AFTER THAT, PROGRAM YOUR NANITES TO NEGATE REPAIRING THAT PART OF YOUR BRAIN NODE NETWORK, YOU CAN’T GET THEM TO CHANGE THINGS LIKE YOUR APPEARANCE, BUT YOU CAN INSTRUCT THEM TO NEGATE PRIORITIES.

1 KYLE(cb)                                                    THAT COULD KILL ME.

2 FOUR(cb)                                                    IT IS 60% LIKELY THAT IT WILL KILL YOU.  THAT’S YOUR ONLY CHOICE THOUGH.

3 KYLE(cb)                                                    HOW MUCH TIME UNTIL THE SYNTH IS HERE?

4 FOUR(cb)                                                    TEN MINUTES.

KYLE(cb)                                                       GET HERE AS SOON AS YOU CAN.  I’LL SIT TIGHT UNTIL THEN.  MAYBE IF YOU’RE HERE IT WILL INCREASE MY CHANCE OF SURVIVAL.

Panel 1. KYLE is still on one knee.  The frame view is from the side this time.  KYLE’s whole body is in frame.

1 KYLE (narration box)                                 I MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE THE RAGE PROGRAM TO FIGHT THE SYNTH.  I’LL OVERLOAD MY BRAIN NODES AFTER I KILL IT.  I’LL BE DEFENSELESS FOR LIKE AN HOUR IF I OVER LOAD THE NODES NOW.

Panel 2.  Close up on KYLE.  He is looking to the side responding to what he is hearing further on down the alley. 

1 IRENE:                                                        SO WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THEM?

2 AL:                                                               WHATEVER KILLED THEM HAD TO HAVE BEEN POWERFUL AND FAST.  I DIDN’T SEE ANY EVIDENCE OF GUNPLAY EITHER IN THE SHORT TIME I SAW THE SCENE.

3 KYLE(narration box)                                  WHO IS THAT?  SH*T I CAN’T CONTROL….

Panel 3. KYLE is grabbing his head in pain.  The frame is a mid-body close up, but slightly to the side so two figures walking down the alley can be seen.

1 RAGE:                                                         NOW… RIP THEIR HEADS OFF.  WE HAVE SO MUCH POWER... YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.  KILL THEM!

Panel 4.  KYLE is running toward the two figures at full speed.  The frame view is from over KYLE’S shoulder.  IRENE and AL can be plainly seen now.

1 IRENE:                                                        OH MY GOD!

2 AL:                                                               GET BACK!

2 RAGE:                                                         THAT’S NOT ENOUGH HE’S NOT DEAD!  KILL HER!  KILL HER NOW!  WE HAVE TO SEE HER BLOOD!  YOU HAVE NO CHOICE!

Panel 6. KYLE is thrusting his wrist blade forward.  IRENE is covering her face in anticipation of the blade hitting her face.

Panel2. KYLE has his blade and inch from IRENE’S body. The view is from the side; mid-body shot.

1 RAGE:                                                         WHY ISN’T SHE BLEEDING?

2 KYLE:                                                         I CAN’T… I THINK… YOU’RE IRENE?

3 IRENE:                                                        WHAT?

Panel 3. IRENE has backed up and AL is on his feet. They are staring at KYLE looking afraid and confused.

1 KYLE:                                                         YOU’RE NOT REAL.  YOU’RE A F*CKING COMPUTER PROGRAM!

2 RAGE:                                                         YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.  KILL THEM BOTH!

Panel 4.  Close-up on IRENE’S eye.  She is crying.

1 IRENE:                                                        NO… IT CAN’T BE.  KYLE?

Panel 5. KYLE has electricity flowing up his body.  His eyes are glowing blue now as are his stabilizers.  KYLE looks like he is in pain, but accomplished at the same time.

1 KYLE:                                                         I HAVE A CHOICE!  I’D RATHER DIE!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PAGE TWELVE (five Panels)

Panel 1.  KYLE is now smoking and nothing is glowing.  KYLE’S eyes stare blankly forward.

1 KYLE:                                                         OW.

Panel 2.  KYLE has fallen/is falling face forward onto the concrete of the alley.  Dust is flying up into the air.  IRENE and AL are still keeping their distance.

1 IRENE:                                                        WHAT JUST HAPPENED?  IS… IS THIS REALLY KYLE?

Panel 3. IRENE is walking toward KYLE.  The view is from behind IRENE.  AL’s head is barely in frame.

1 AL:                                                               WHAT ARE YOU DOING?  WE NEED TO CALL THE COPS OR SOMETHING.  THAT THING BROKE ONE OF MY RIBS.

2 IRENE:                                                        DON’T CALL HIM A THING.  HE’S…

Panel 4. IRENE is bending down to look at KYLE.  She is touching his face.  The view is low with KYLE’S head barely in view.

1 IRENE:                                                        …OUR FRIEND.

2 KYLE:                                                         RUN.  GET AWAY FROM ME.

Panel 5.  KYLE’S eyes are looking up at IRENE.  Close up on KYLE’S face turning to the side.

1 KYLE:                                                         I CAN’T MOVE… THERE’S SOMETHING COMING.

2 IRENE:                                                        WHAT’S COMING?  DID YOU KILL NICK AND THE OTHERS?

3 KYLE:                                                         IT’S COMING TO KILL ME.  IN SHORT IT’S A ROBOT COMING TO KILL ME, AND YES I KILLED THEM.   I OVERLOADED MY BRAIN NODES TO STOP MYSELF FROM KILLING ANYONE ELSE.

4 IRENE:                                                        THAT’S WHY YOU CAN’T MOVE?

5 KYLE:                                                         YEAH.

 

PAGE THIRTEEN (six panels)

Panel 1. IRENE looks at AL with tears in her eyes.

1 IRENE:                                                        WE HAVE TO HELP HIM. 

2 AL:                                                               NOTHING TO IT.

Panel 2.  AL is pulling out a pair of Sais.  IRENE is next to AL, still bending down to attend to KYLE.

1 KYLE:                                                         NO… THAT’S NO USE.  THIS THING WILL KILL ALL OF US.  IT’S BETTER THIS WAY.  I DESERVE THIS.

2 IRENE:                                                        WE JUST GOT YOU BACK.  I’LL DIE BEFORE I LET YOU GO AGAIN.

3 KYLE:                                                         IRENE…

Panel 3.  KYLE is closing his eyes.  A tear is running down his face.

1 KYLE:                                                         GODDAMN IT.  TURN ME ON MY BACK.

Panel 4.  AL is flipping KYLE over on his back.  The view is from farther back.

1 KYLE:                                                         THE SYNTH WILL BE HERE IN TWO MINUTES.  IT WILL HEAD TOWARDS ME FIRST.  IT WILL BE CLOAKED AT FIRST, BUT TO ATTACK IT HAS TO BE VISIBLE.  THOSE SAIS WON’T HELP YOU.

Panel 5.  Close up on KYLE’S leg.  A panel on his leg opens up (think ROBOCOP).  A sword handle is in the holster.

1 KYLE:                                                         THIS WILL.

Panel 6. AL is holding the handle.  He is examining it.

KYLE:                                                            SOMEONE WHO CARRIES SAIS AROUND SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH A SWORD TO SOME DEGREE.

 

 

PAGE FOURTEEN (seven panels)

Panel 1. The sword extends itself out of the handle.  AL looks surprised.

1 KYLE:                                                         THERE IS A BUTTON ON THE INSIDE OF THE BOTTOM OF THE HANDLE.  THIS STARTS HIGH FREQUENCY SOUND OSCILLATIONS.  IT WILL CUT THROUGH ANYTHING.

Panel 2.  Close up on KYLE.

1 KYLE:                                                         A FRIEND WILL BE HERE TWO MINUTES AFTER THE SYNTH ARRIVES.  YOU HAVE TO BUY US THAT MUCH TIME.

2 AL:                                                               AND HE’LL KILL THIS THING?

3 KYLE:                                                         YEAH.

Panel 3. AL is walking around in the alley in a defensive stance.  KYLE is on his back in the alley and IRENE is up against a wall.  The view is from an isometric type view from above.

1 AL:                                                               IT SHOULD BE HERE SOON.

2 IRENE:                                                        KYLE, YOU’LL TELL ME EVERYTHING IF WE LIVE THROUGH THIS RIGHT?  HOW ALL OF THIS IS EVEN POSSIBLE.

3 KYLE:                                                         YOU HAVE MY MOST SINCERE PROMISE, I’LL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING.

Panel 4.  The SYNTH is standing in front of AL.  The view is from behind AL.  AL is poised to strike.  The blade looks distorted due to the oscillations being activated.

1 AL:                                                               YOU SON OF A BITCH!

Panel 5. AL strikes downward.  The SYNTH looks as if it’s blocking the strike.  It doesn’t know about the oscillations though.    The SYNTH’S arm is sliced off.

1 KYLE:                                                         THAT’S IT!  NOW IT’S STOMACH, STAB THE POWER SOURCE!

Panel 6.  The SYNTH is dodging the next strike.  AL is hitting nothing with stabbing motion. 

1 AL:                                                               F*CK!

Panel 7. AL is being punched in the chest.  Blood is coming out of his mouth as he slams against a brick wall.  IRENE’S head can be seen in the foreground screaming out of concern and fear.

PAGE FIFTEEN (five panels)

Panel 1.  IRENE is rushing forward.  NO DIALOGUE.

Panel 2.  IRENE is stepping back as FOUR appears behind the Synth.  He is halfway cloaked.

1 KYLE:                                                         FOUR!

Panel 3.  FOUR is decapitating the SYNTH with both of his wrist blades slicing in crossing motion.  The Synth is trying to react, but with one arm and being caught off guard; it didn’t have a chance.  NO DIALOGUE.
